Ordering Cajons

Nautilus Cajons specializes in professional custom cajons. All Nautilus Cajons are built by cajon maker, Andy Skellenger.

THE ONLY WAY TO ORDER a Nautilus Cajon is to get in touch directly with Andy Skellenger by one of three methods: You may call him at 719-221-8004, email him at andyskellenger@yahoo.com, or find Nautilus Cajons on facebook.com and friend us. Due to technical incapacities of this website, the contact form, paypal cart, and store do not work, but once you have ordered you will be sent a paypal invoice making it easy to pay online with a card.

If you need something special, you have options! Choose your own shape and size. Select your favorite of dozens of species of wood and colors of finish. Include snares on one or both heads. You can have the Regular Snare or Premium Snare arrangement. Pure Tone heads or Slap Heads, or both. Add strings for the sound a traditional Cajon Afroperuano. Add a high-end pickups by Pick-Up the World. For the ultimate custom look, add binding or other custom wood inlays. Do you have an idea for a design you have never seen built before? You can order a copy of any previously constructed Nautilus Custom Cajon. Cajons normally take about two weeks from the time the order is placed until your cajon is shipped out but can take up to 8 weeks under certain circumstances.   

Snare Cajons

Medium_Flamenco__slap_head There are 3 sizes of regular Nautilus Snare Cajons, Bass, Medium and Small. Each kind has two heads, a Pure Tone Head on one side, and on the other a Slap Head with adjustable timbre. The snares on the Slap Head can easily be adjusted to the player's preference with exterior knobs. The snare buzz can also be muted for a completely different sound, more akin to the Slap and Pure Tone cajons.

Flagship Cajon

The Flagship features a Premium Snare arrangement which separates snare and bass sounds, giving you a clean fat bass tone in the center and super responsive snare in the corners. This cajon has two heads, one is a Pure Tone Head, and the other is a Slap Head, with adjustable timbre. The snares are on the Slap Head, and they can easily be adjusted to the player's preference or muted for a completely different sound, more akin to the Slap and Pure Tone cajons. The Pure Tone Head has no snare. The dimensions of this drum are 19"tall/14"wide/15"deep. It is made of birch with a clear polyurethane finish.
